What this policy covers
This Cookie Policy explains how Cogito AI, Inc. ("Cogito AI", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at www.cogitoai.ai (the "Site"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal information more generally, including your rights and how to exercise them. It does not cover the Cogito AI platform that customers log in to, which is governed by each customer's agreement with us.
The laws this policy follows
We ask for your consent before storing anything on your device, or reading anything from it, that is not strictly necessary to provide the Site. We do this to meet the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR, the EU ePrivacy Directive (as implemented in each member state) and the EU GDPR, under which consent is our legal basis for any personal data these technologies involve, and the privacy laws of US states such as California (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others. Consent is given by a clear action, is never assumed from browsing, scrolling or closing the banner, and can be withdrawn as easily as it was given.
We do not sell or share personal information collected through the Site, as those terms are defined in US state privacy laws, so no "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link is needed; we honor the Global Privacy Control signal in any case (see Browser signals below).
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device so that it can remember something about you, such as a preference, between pages or visits. Similar technologies include scripts and browser storage that can be used for the same purposes. Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies; cookies set by another organization are called third-party cookies.
The cookies and similar technologies we use
We keep this list deliberately short. The Site uses the following, grouped by the categories you can choose between in our cookie settings.
Strictly necessary (always on)
- cogito_consent: a first-party cookie that stores the cookie choices you make in the consent banner or the cookie settings, so that we do not ask you again on every page. It contains only your choices, the version of the choices offered and the date you made them, holds no personal data, and expires after 180 days (about 6 months), after which we ask again. It is set only when you make a choice, and it is also our record of the consent you gave or refused.
Analytics (only with your consent)
- Vercel Web Analytics: counts page views and referrers in anonymous, aggregated form so we can see which pages are used. It does not set cookies and does not identify you; a temporary hashed identifier derived from the request is used to count visits and is discarded after 24 hours.
- Vercel Speed Insights: measures how fast pages load (Core Web Vitals) in aggregate so we can keep the Site fast. It does not set cookies.
- Neither script is loaded until you allow analytics. If you reject non-essential cookies, or do not make a choice, they do not run. If you withdraw consent later, they are removed from the page you are on and every page after it.
Who provides the analytics
Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights are provided by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, California 91723, United States, which also hosts the Site. Vercel processes this data on our behalf as a processor (service provider) under a data processing agreement. Because Vercel is in the United States, data it processes for us may be transferred outside the UK and the European Economic Area; the safeguards Vercel applies to such transfers are described in its privacy policy at https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy, and how its analytics products handle data is described at https://vercel.com/docs/analytics/privacy-policy.
What we do not use
- No advertising or marketing cookies, and no retargeting pixels.
- No social media tracking pixels or embedded social widgets that track you.
- No third-party tracking cookies, and no browser storage other than the consent cookie described above.
- No fonts, scripts or other resources loaded from third-party servers on page load: the Site's fonts are served from our own domain.
Our forms
The contact, download and job application forms do not set cookies. To tell real submissions from automated ones, each form carries a signed timestamp inside the form itself, and the information you type is sent to us only when you submit the form. How we use that information is described in our Privacy Policy.
How to manage your choices
- On your first visit, a banner at the bottom of the page lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential ones, or open the cookie settings and choose by category. The accept and reject options are presented in the same way, and nothing optional runs until you choose.
- You can change your choices at any time in the cookie settings on this page, or through the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Your new choice takes effect immediately.
- We keep your choice for 180 days, whether you accepted or refused, and then ask again. We also ask again if the choices we offer change.
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. If you delete the strictly necessary cookie, we will ask for your choices again on your next visit.
Browser signals: Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a browser setting that tells websites not to sell or share your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing for the signal to stop; we honor it anyway: when your browser sends it and you have not yet made a choice, analytics stays off and the banner tells you so. If you then choose Accept all, we treat that as your explicit permission for analytics, which is not a sale or share.
Do Not Track (DNT) is an older browser setting with no agreed standard. We do not respond to DNT separately, because the Site already loads nothing optional without your consent, which gives you at least the same protection.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy if the cookies or similar technologies we use change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. If a change means we need your consent again, the banner will ask for it.
